Michael C. Linn, President of MCL Ventures LLC is the former Chairman, CEO and President of LINN Energy, LLC (Nasdaq: LINE), which he founded in 2003. The Company became the first publicly traded E&P, LLC in 2006. The Company's core areas of operation are the Texas Panhandle, Oklahoma, Permian Basin, Los Angeles Basin, Michigan and Rocky Mountains and now has an enterprise value of over 14 billion dollars. In addition to serving on LINN's board, he also serves on the Board of Directors and is Chairman of the Risk Committee for Nabors Industries, Ltd , Board of Directors for Black Stone Minerals and is a Senior Advisor for Quantum Energy Partners, LLC.

Mr. Linn currently serves on: National Petroleum Council; Independent Petroleum Association of America (IPAA) – Past Chairman - Board of Directors – Chairman of Political Action Committee; Texas Representative for the Legal and Regulatory Affairs Committee of the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission. He previously served on the following: Natural Gas Supply Association – Director; National Gas Council – Chairman and Director; Independent Oil and Gas Associations of New York, Pennsylvania and West Virginia – Chairman and President of each. He was recently named as the 2011 IPAA Chief Roughneck of the Year, inducted into the All American Wildcatter’s, and received The Woodrow Wilson Award for Public Service.

Mr. Linn has regularly represented the oil and natural gas industry before state and federal agencies, the U.S. House of Representatives, the U.S. Senate as well as the media appearing on CNBC. He has also published numerous articles in oil and natural gas trade publications and newspapers.

His civic affiliations include serving on the following: Texas Children’s Hospital – Executive Committee, Board of Trustees, Chairman of Compensation Committee and member of the Finance Committee; MD Anderson - Board of Visitors, Executive Committee and Governmental Relations Committee; Houston Children’s Charity – Board Member; Museum of Fine Arts Houston - Board of Trustees, Long-Range Planning Committee, Finance Committee and American Art Committee; Houston Police Foundation – Board of Directors; University of Houston - President’s Energy Advisory Board; Villanova University - Founding Member of the Dean’s Advisory Council for College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.

Mr. Linn was President of Allegheny Interests, Inc., a private oil and natural gas investment company, from 2000 to 2003. Previously, he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Meridian Exploration Corporation, a private oil and natural gas company with operations in both the Appalachian and Permian Basins, until its sale in 1999.

Mr. Linn graduated cum laude from Villanova University in 1974 with a BA in Political Science. Subsequent to completing his undergraduate degree, Mr. Linn entered the University of Baltimore School of Law and graduated cum laude in 1977. Following graduation, he practiced law for the law firm of Ecker, Ecker, Zofer and Rome until 1980, when he joined Meridian Exploration as General Counsel.

Current club memberships are Coronado Club, Shadow Hawk Golf Club, The Forest Club all of Houston, TX, Duquesne Club of Pittsburgh, PA, Cosmos Club of Washington, D.C., and Birnam Woods Golf Club of Montecito, CA, Harry’s Bar and Mark’s Club in London, UK and the London Golf Club in Kent, U.K.

Driving Directions: Petroleum Club is located on the 43rd floor of the Exxon Mobil building in Downtown Houston. It is located on Bell Street (a one way-street headed west) between Milam (one-way street headed south) and Travis Street (heads north). The walk-in entrance to the building is on the north side.

 

Parking: Valet, street metered and private parking are available options.

On-site registration and payment entails a $10 processing fees.

 

CANCELLATION POLICY:

For VISITORS: Sorry, we do not offer refunds to visitors or prospective members. You are welcome to send a substitute (please let us know at least 72 hours prior to the event).

 

FOR GENERAL MEMBERS: If you let us know at least 72 hours prior, we will credit your HSF account for the fees, so you can apply the fees toward a future event.

 

FOR STRATEGIC MEMBERS: Strategic Members attend all events for no charge (if registered in time). Since Strategic Membership is tied to specific individuals, substitutions are not allowed if you cannot make it to the event.
